Yuvraj Singh's Influence on Abhishek Sharma
New Delhi, [India], May 26: As the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) conclude their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Raj Kumar Sharma, father of player Abhishek Sharma, has praised Yuvraj Singh for his significant role in his son's growth, describing the former Indian all-rounder as instrumental in Abhishek's progress.
Raj Kumar stated, “Yuvraj Singh has been pivotal in Abhishek’s achievements. He has dedicated considerable effort to his training, and Abhishek has reciprocated with hard work. I take immense pride in my son; his dedication is propelling him forward. Success in this sport hinges on performance, and those who excel advance,” he remarked.
Although SRH did not make it to the playoffs, Abhishek stood out as a key player. He has made history by becoming the only batter to score over 400 runs in consecutive IPL seasons, each with a strike rate surpassing 180.
This remarkable feat was accomplished during his match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 68th IPL match held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday.
Reflecting on SRH's disappointing season, Raj Kumar commented, “SRH is a strong team... but I’m unsure why they struggled to secure more victories this year. At the start of the IPL, we anticipated a strong performance. However, I believe they will return next year with improved strategies to address their shortcomings.”
In the match, Heinrich Klaasen's century and Travis Head's fifty propelled SRH to an impressive total of 278/3 in 20 overs against KKR, marking the third-highest score in IPL history.
Klaasen was named player of the match for his outstanding 105 runs off 39 balls, which included seven fours and nine sixes, achieving the fastest century of the current IPL in just 37 balls.
KKR had a challenging day, failing to chase the daunting target of 279 set by Sunrisers Hyderabad, ultimately losing by 110 runs.
SRH's bowling was spearheaded by Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Harsh Dubey, each claiming three wickets to dismantle KKR's batting order.
